Description
Chinese Shandong Province Crafts - Set of 2 Chinese Antique-Style Paperweights
These paperweights contain fossils of ancient trilobites, which are called bat stones in China due to their resemblance to bats.
While fossils showing only the body or with closed wings are sometimes seen, fossils in this shape with wings spread open are quite rare, in my opinion.
When lightly tapped together, they produce a clear, resonant sound.
Size: 18cm x 3.4cm x 1.5cm (per paperweight)
Woven fabric case size: 20.5cm x 10.7cm x 3cm
Weight: Approximately 270g per paperweight
(Please allow for slight errors as these are amateur measurements.)
These have been stored in a storage room for many years without being used.
