Vintage Stavangerflint Norway Lidded Dish Fish Motif MCM Scandinavian Pottery
stavangerflint
Vintage mid-century Stavangerflint lidded trinket dish, made in Norway. Hand-decorated in the whimsical fish motif style the factory is known for — teal scaled mackerel, mustard yellow trees, and olive green accents, with a deep teal band around the base. Round form with a flat button knob lid. Measures approximately 4 in diameter, 4 tall with lid. Condition: Good vintage condition. Minor age-related surface crazing to the glaze, typical for this era and maker — no chips or cracks. Marked on the underside STAVANGERFLINT NORWAY with the factory's crown/anchor logo. A charming addition to any Scandinavian mid-century modern collection — lovely as a trinket box or small serving dish for nuts, pâté, or condiments. The fish, lemon, and seaweed motif is widely attributed to Inger Waage, one of Stavangerflint's best-known designers. Waage worked for Stavangerflint from 1953 until the company's merger with Figgjo and became famous for her bold, whimsical Scandinavian graphics featuring fish, birds, flowers, and fruit. Smoke-free home. Carefully packed, ships within 1 business days.
