Description
Up for sale is a rare, original late-19th-century printing of The Beginner's Latin Book, published in 1893 by Ginn & Company. Written by two prominent classical educators of the era—William C. Collar (Head-Master of the historic Roxbury Latin School) and M. Grant Daniell (Principal of the Chauncy-Hall School in Boston)—this textbook served as a foundational standard for Latin pedagogy in late Victorian America. The title page features a classic Latin epigraph from Seneca: Longum iter est per praecepta, breve et efficax per exempla (The journey is long through precepts, short and efficient through examples). The spine is intact but loose inside the front cover. There is damage at the bottom of the spine and a drawing inside the back cover and the next to the last page as shown in the photos. Considering the age, this is in good condition.
