Bill Kennedy 1987 Pit Fired Burnished Studio Pottery Vessel 10" Signed

Beautiful signed studio pottery vessel by Oregon artist Bill Kennedy, dated 1987 on the underside.  This low, rounded vessel was hand-thrown, burnished, and pit-fired, creating its naturally smoky black, gray, burgundy, peach, and earthy tan coloration. The dramatic surface pattern is the result of the outdoor firing process rather than painted decoration or a commercial glaze. Kennedy’s work is inspired by traditional Native American pottery techniques.  Measures approximately 10 in diameter and 4.25 high. It weighs 2 lb. 3 oz.  The piece displays beautifully and has no obvious chips or cracks noted. There are expected light surface scuffs, firing marks, and wear to the unglazed foot consistent with a handcrafted pit-fired art piece; please review all photos closely.
