Vintage Otagiri Blue Cat Ceramic Canister Set - Mid-Century Japanese Kawaii

Otagiri was a prominent Japanese ceramics company known for producing a wide variety of decorative and functional pottery for the international market. During the mid-to-late 20th century, they became particularly famous for their whimsical animal-themed kitchenware and home decor. Their pieces are characterized by a blend of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and Western aesthetic preferences. This specific cat series is a classic example of the 'cute' or 'kawaii' aesthetic that Otagiri successfully exported. The use of pastel colors and anthropomorphic animal shapes made these items popular collectibles in American homes. Such sets are now sought after by vintage kitchenware enthusiasts and collectors of mid-century Japanese ceramics. There is a small chip in the cookie jar. I showed it in a picture.
