Antique The Weir Stoneware Fruit Jar 1 Quart Pat 1892 Crock Lid & Wire Bail
The Weir
Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic late-19th to early-20th-century The Weir 1-quart stoneware fruit jar. This classic piece of American utilitarian pottery features a crisp, two-tone design with a tan Bristol-glaze body and a rich, dark brown glazed shoulder and matching lid.The top of the lid is clearly embossed with the original patent text: THE WEIR PAT. MAR. 1ST 92. It comes complete with its original vintage iron wire bail handle and center tension locking mechanism. The interior is fully lined with its original dark Albany slip glaze. The bottom interior shows typical manufacturing characteristics of period pottery, including minor glaze skips and pinpoint kiln bubbles. There is a faint line visible on the inside base that appears to be a superficial glaze craze line/streak, consistent with age and rustic manufacturing. Condition Report:Stoneware: Excellent primitive condition. Great color contrast between the tan and brown glazes. No major chips or breaks. (Please review the interior base photo for glaze details). Hardware: The original iron wire bail is fully intact and operational. It shows a wonderful, authentic aged dark rust patina that collectors look for, without sacrificing its structural integrity. Overall: A fantastic, display-ready addition to any primitive kitchen, farmhouse decor, or antique stoneware collection. Please review all high-resolution photos carefully as they serve as the primary description of the item's condition and exact...
