Mabeline Grey Navajo Horse Hair Pottery Vase Signed Southwestern Native Art

Beautiful handcrafted Navajo horse hair pottery vase by artist Mabeline Grey. This striking Southwestern pottery piece features natural black horsehair markings across a creamy ivory background with hand-etched geometric bands in turquoise blue, cobalt, golden yellow, and warm terracotta tones.  The base is signed/etched “M Grey” and “Navajo.” Includes the original Mabeline Grey artist information card, which states that she is from the Near the Mountain Coal for the Edge Water Clan and learned the art of Navajo etched pottery from her uncle.  Horse hair pottery is created through a distinctive firing process in which horsehair is applied to the hot pottery, producing the unique organic black lines—making each piece one of a kind.  Approx. 8” tall with an opening around 2”. Please refer to measurement photos for additional dimensions.  Condition: Pre-owned handcrafted pottery in very nice overall condition. Natural variations and irregularities are characteristic of handmade horse hair pottery. Original artist card shows light age/storage wear and faint remnants of a previous price marking.
